2012: A Year In Review
I've futzed around enough with doing a "Year in Review" type post long enough, that I figured it was time to stop putting it off and just do it. Nothing like waiting until after the halfway mark of January to write a post describing the year prior, is there? Initially, I didn't think I had enough content to say "Hey, I did some stuff this year!" but upon further review I can safely say that there hasn't been a bigger year, photography-wise, than 2012. Looking back on the year, things started so differently than they ended up, and I can honestly say I'm blessed by the gods of photography for having the opportunities provided to me that I've received.

Going into 2012, it appeared that my work was turning its focus toward that of happy couples, excited about a recent engagement and looking forward to pending nuptials. I was 100% sure that I wanted to stick with engagement sessions, and capture the raw happiness that poured fourth from the happiness of a young couple.
That all seemed to change around April, when I had the chance to capture this beautiful bundle of joy. From there, things just sort of steam-rolled. New babies were born, old babies got older, and couples started to become families. It seemed like a natural progression for them, but caught me a bit off guard, and a little bit by surprise. I can honestly say that expanding my work to include families has opened my eyes to the happiness that can be brought to parents the the lens of a camera.
That's not to say that I didn't still stick with my original plan of shooting engagements, though. 2012 also brought me the chance to capture the love between fellow photographer, Joe Sterne, and his Fwife Julia in historic Harpers Ferry, close friends Chris and Kristin and Jake and Caroline and new friends Ryan and Lisa. Engagement sessions still brought me a lot of fun (and a lot of work), and I look forward to a few sessions already booked for 2013!
So where does Zach Egolf Photography go in 2013? Hopefully down similar paths! It's also my hope to be able to explore new avenues in the world of photography. With recent purchases, I plan on exploring product review (and photography a bit more) and, for the first time formally, I can officially announce that I'll be entering the world of wedding photography! 2013 is shaping up to be a fun and exciting new year, and I hope you enjoy following along as I experience it!
