I made a comment during this session that I could basically use this family as a way to track my progression as a photographer, because I've been photographing them for nearly the entire life of their son, Ryder! They're always so much fun to be around, and it's been great watching them grow as a family!
I hope to continue to follow their progress and spend time with them behind and in front of the camera, for many more years to come!
Read MoreBrett and Monica have a beautiful family, and it was such a joy to photograph them in the peak of the Autumn Colors. A quick trip to scenic Piney Run Park and we were on our way to making magic. Both of their kids were absolute joys, and it was nice to be able to capture the memories in the beautiful weather. This was the first shoot of the Fall, and certainly won't be the last, as we get into my favorite time of the year to shoot photos!

Cambria's mother informed me that she was planning on doing her part to help other children like her, and was going to be hosting a lemonade stand of her own, in honor of the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. In order to help better promote the stand, Cambria's mother asked me to do a session with her daughter, and I have to say that I'm pretty pleased with the results. Read MoreYou've not seen these two on the site before, but I swear that they grow a few years every time I see them! Landon and Logan have lived more in their one year on this Earth than most babies will live in their first 10 years. Both children are blessings to their parents, and you can just tell by watching them that they both know they're something special.
That being said, you can also tell by watching them that there's something slightly mischievous going on in their minds, so it was no surprise that these two took to a "Cake Smash" shoot like fish take to water!

Read MoreKimberly and Michael presented me with a nice distraction from what ended up being the "Christmas of Newborns" that I went through in 2014. All-in-all, ZEP shot almost a dozen children (newborn and older) for the holidays this year, and sometimes it's just nice to have a little break with people who can actually speak your language!
Kimberly and Michael were looking for a fun, outdoor style shoot to use for the Christmas cards, so we went to one of my favorite spots for their session. The McKeldin Area of Patapsco Park offers some beautiful scenery, and some of these spots should look familiar from previous sessions.

I'm also really lucky, in that I've also had the pleasure of capturing the moments that happened BEFORE Tyler was born. WAY BEFORE.
Lisa and Ryan have a real cutie on their hands, and they're both going to make great parents. My wife and I are very lucky to have their family as our friends, and I can't wait to capture many more memories of their family in the future.

Hannah makes some of the best faces, and her folks are going to be in a lot of trouble when she starts breaking hearts and getting her way!

Whether it's cuddles on the couch, or tales of future fishing trips, Jackson has a big, bright future ahead of him. Capturing this little guy was a lot of fun, because Chris and Kristin knew exactly what they wanted out of their session, and Jackson had no problem cooperating for the shoot!

Read MoreBaby Hannah's story with ZEP is a interesting and special one. Hannah's mother contacted me a few months before she was born asking if I would be willing to shoot her newborn photos. Of course, I said yes, even after finding out that Hannah was due to arrive very close to the arrival of our own baby. We set the date and put things to the side for a bit.
As things always have a way of happening certain ways, a day or two after Hannah's birth day, we scheduled our session with the warning that we might need to reschedule in the event that our baby decided to come. Sure enough, two days before our scheduled session, my wife went into labor, and we were joined by little baby Noah.
But Hannah and her parents insisted they still wanted photos, and it's so good that they were persistent, because we got some amazingly adorable shots of this little gal. I'm looking forward to many more sessions, watching this little girl grow up!

A lot of times, those wishes are simply "Can you hold off on sharing these with your readers until I've had a chance to surprise my family". That's not a very difficult wish to fulfill, and one that I'm more than happy to oblige. Unfortunately, as the years keep passing by, this means that I'm more likely to forget to actually share those photos once the "proof period" has expired. I was really surprised (and disappointed) to have recently discovered that I forgot to share one of my favorite family sessions from 2012, the Murray Family.

In the realm of clients, few things make this photographer happier than repeats. Sure, it's always great when one family enjoys my photos enough to recommend me to another family, but there are few joys more pure than knowing that a family enjoyed my work so much that they're willing to bring me back and have them capture more memories.
This was the case with the Covert family!
I had the pleasure of capturing the first few days of their adorable baby girl, Makenna, and was delighted to find out that they were so happy with their photos, they wanted to book me for a session for Christmas cards, and they wanted to bring along Morgan's sister and family.
I love a session like this, because the families really play well off of each other and it makes for some great photos. I can't wait to continue to see how baby Makenna continues to grow up and follow along with her family! More photos down below...
Fall means a few things: Football, changing leaves, cooler temperatures and pumpkins. In just a few short months, baby Addyson has grown from a tiny baby that barely moves, to a smiling, laughing adorable little girl. Her parents are very lucky to have such a fun and cute baby, and I had an absolute blast shooting this session for 6-month old Addy. Not only did she smile for the camera and have a good time, she also cooperated when we decided to shove her in a pumpkin for the adorable photo at the top.

Recently The Photowalk Alliance took our second Photowalk. For this walk, the Fall 2011 Photowalk, myself and Joe Sterne planned a private tour to Westminster Hall and the current burial site of Edgar Allen Poe. This trip was different for us, in that we had made quite a few leaps and bounds since planning our previous walk. For starters, this walk was our first official sponsored walk, with donations and assistance coming from the fine folks at both ThinkTank Photo and Black Rapid, makers of some of the finest accessories and equipment for photographers the world-over.
What did those fine folks do for us? Funny you should ask. You may recall a previous post where I reviewed the ThinkTank Digital Holster 50 v2.0. At the time, I couldn't reveal the secret, but ThinkTank actually gave us that bag to give away at our walk. We held a photo contest during the walk, and the winner was selected at 10pm on Sunday, November 20th. The winner of the contest was the photo that looked the "creepiest" and was selected by members of TPA. The winner of the bag was Christine Sullivan, with the following photo:
Christine is a local photographer in the Maryland area, and we're pretty sure she managed to capture a ghost in this image!
The image definitely fit in with the entire ambiance of the trip. The tour guide gave us some great ghost stories, and I don't think there was a single hair in the house that wasn't standing on end, and not a single person just a tiny bit creeped out.
Our other sponser, Black Rapid, was also kind enough to give us an item to give away at our walk. For this particular item we drew names out of a hat, and gave away a Black Rapid RS Sport strap. I personally love the Black Rapid line of straps (and have raved about them just about every chance that I get) and I think we were able to sell a few to some of our fellow walkers!
