Baby Carson snuck up on everyone out of the blue and caught his First Responder parents (and this photographer) by surprise! Luckily, we were able to squeeze him in during a random afternoon. What is it they say about second kids being so much easier? Baby Carson never made a peep, never moved, and cooperated with every adjustment, movement, and sound Big Sister made during the shoot.
To say that this little guy has a ton of love coming his way would be an understatement! I even have to make sure Mrs. Zach Egolf Photography doesn't steal him when she goes to visit!
I'm looking forward to watching the family continue to grow, and to watch Baby Carson grow up to be the young man his parents hope he'll become
By now, The Collins Family are pretty much regulars around ZEP. I made a comment during this session that I could basically use this family as a way to track my progression as a photographer, because I've been photographing them for nearly the entire life of their son, Ryder! They're always so much fun to be around, and it's been great watching them grow as a family!
I hope to continue to follow their progress and spend time with them behind and in front of the camera, for many more years to come!
By now, Baby Hannah should be no stranger to anyone that has visited the site. That being said...good lord, talk about time flying! It seems like it was just yesterday I was taking this little munchkin's newborn photos and now you can hardly keep her still for 30 seconds to take her photos!
This was another marathon session, planned by Hannah's mother, and my wife (friends outside of ZEP), so we were able to get multiple costume changes, multiple settings, and even had time for a cake smash!
Hannah was a real sport, and a wonderful little doll to photograph. Hit the jump for more photos!
Another adorable baby, and finally a little lady in a sea of baby boys! Baby Brenna was the perfect newborn to have in the studio. She was practically a limp dishrag when I got her in front of the heat and white noise, and we were able to shoot for an hour without so much as a peep!
Baby Brenna's parents are going to be great with her, and they're both truly blessed to have such an adorable baby.
You've not seen these two on the site before, but I swear that they grow a few years every time I see them! Landon and Logan have lived more in their one year on this Earth than most babies will live in their first 10 years. Both children are blessings to their parents, and you can just tell by watching them that they both know they're something special.
That being said, you can also tell by watching them that there's something slightly mischievous going on in their minds, so it was no surprise that these two took to a "Cake Smash" shoot like fish take to water!
These two were so much fun, and I'm so glad we were able to get some amazing reactions out of them both! Make sure to click through the post to see more photos from our session!
Having know Jennifer and her family for a few years, now, I consider it an incredible blessing that she asked if I would shoot her marriage to her wonderful husband, Tyler. Knowing the family, I knew that I was going to be in for one of the more exciting weddings of the year, and their family and friends did not disappoint! Tyler, Jennifer, their friends and family truly exemplified the happiness that everyone deserves on their wedding day, and the two of them are going to live the happiest of lives together as husband and wife.

Kimberly and Michael presented me with a nice distraction from what ended up being the "Christmas of Newborns" that I went through in 2014. All-in-all, ZEP shot almost a dozen children (newborn and older) for the holidays this year, and sometimes it's just nice to have a little break with people who can actually speak your language!
Kimberly and Michael were looking for a fun, outdoor style shoot to use for the Christmas cards, so we went to one of my favorite spots for their session. The McKeldin Area of Patapsco Park offers some beautiful scenery, and some of these spots should look familiar from previous sessions.
These two were a lot of fun, and more photos from their session can be seen below.
Jackson's parents, Chris and Kristin, are both incredibly blessed to have a precious little guy like Jackson. Whether it's cuddles on the couch, or tales of future fishing trips, Jackson has a big, bright future ahead of him. Capturing this little guy was a lot of fun, because Chris and Kristin knew exactly what they wanted out of their session, and Jackson had no problem cooperating for the shoot!

Let me just stop you right here. Tell me that's not one of the cutest babies you'e ever seen. Go ahead!
Sean and Kelly just welcomed little Nolan into their lives a few weeks ago, and I made sure to clear room in my "studio" schedule to get them their photos. For this shoot, I did something a little different, and brought them on-site, rather than going to their home. It's a bit of a change for me, since I'm so used to being a "traveling" photographer for most of my family shoots.
Nolan was an absolute joy to photograph. He stayed asleep through costume changes, naked baby bottom, and various poses, twists and turns for almost two whole hours! He loved the warm heat, and soothing sounds of a white noise machine, and I think it might even have been nice for his parents to catch a small break, too!
It's been almost a year since this precious little gal turned one year old, and in that year she's somehow managed to get even cuter! Lily and her family travelled all the way to Baltimore to spend some time in studio with me, and we got some fantastic shots!
Hit the jump for more, and if you've got a little one getting ready to have a birthday, hop on over to the contact page and let me know if you would be interested in a session!
It's been almost 3 full months
since I've done any sort of blogging on my site. I'm sure it's gone
mostly unnoticed, but that doesn't mean I don't still feel bad about it.
In a way, this post is going to be some sort of pre-shoot therapy for
me, because on Saturday, I'll be one week away from shooting my first
wedding.
Ever.
I
won't lie and say I'm not a little worried, or maybe even a bit scared.
Weddings are a HUGE deal, and wedding photography is, in my opinion,
one of the most important parts about the wedding. 20 years from now,
the bride's dress might be faded or yellowed; rings will be tarnished,
dented and scratched. 20 years from now, wedding party friendships
might change, and venues might even be gone. 20 years from now,
however, wedding photos will instantly bring you back to the memories
you had on the day you got married. I know this. I'm married.
One of our members over at The Photowalk Alliance was in the market for a new lens to do some portrait work. Fellow TPA Co-Founder, Joe Sterne mentioned that she should be careful about lens distortion, especially if she was using specific camera sensors, or had limited space. Come to find out, she was going to be shooting in a very tight space, and had considered using a wide angle lens to do her work.
I wanted to throw something together quickly just to show the differences between wide angle lenses and the "nifty fifty" when used on both a full frame sensor (Canon 5D mkii) and a crop sensor (Canon 7D). All shots are OOC, and taken from about three feet away. The 50mm lens is the Canon "Nifty Fifty" and the wide angle lens is the Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens. It's also important to note that the 50mm is a EF lens, and the Sigma is their equivalent to a EF-S Canon lens. That's the reason behind the black circle on the 5D photos.
One of the things that I did not get a chance to do before I reviewed the Think Tank Airport Takeoff was to actually USE the bag in a setting that didn't involve just having the bag be a storage facility. Luckily, for me, I took a trip to Naples, Florida shortly after purchasing the bag and, despite being on vacation, still felt it necessary to bring nearly every single piece of equipment that I own. I figured that the only way to get a true read on how well the Takeoff was going to work was to really put it to work, and I have to say that, without a doubt, the Takeoff held up its end of the bargain.
Ask nearly any photographer what one thing they're most likely to spend
money on, and not be happy about, and there's a good chance they'll tell
you the item is their bag. It's bags; not lenses, not camera bodies,
not remotes or triggers, that seem to constantly be "improving" and yet
never seem to satisfy the average photographer. Sure, some might tell
you, "Well, I love my Timbuk2 Messenger Bag" or, "I don't go anywhere
without my Lowepro Slingshot!" but talk to them for a few minutes and
there's probably something that bothers them about their bag. Something
that just doesn't seem to fit right, or sit right.
