Baby Carson snuck up on everyone out of the blue and caught his First Responder parents (and this photographer) by surprise!  Luckily, we were able to squeeze him in during a random afternoon.  What is it they say about second kids being so much easier?  Baby Carson never made a peep, never moved, and cooperated with every adjustment, movement, and sound Big Sister made during the shoot.

To say that this little guy has a ton of love coming his way would be an understatement!  I even have to make sure Mrs. Zach Egolf Photography doesn't steal him when she goes to visit!

I'm looking forward to watching the family continue to grow, and to watch Baby Carson grow up to be the young man his parents hope he'll become

A Distorted View on Things

One of our members over at The Photowalk Alliance was in the market for a new lens to do some portrait work.  Fellow TPA Co-Founder, Joe Sterne mentioned that she should be careful about lens distortion, especially if she was using specific camera sensors, or had limited space.  Come to find out, she was going to be shooting in a very tight space, and had considered using a wide angle lens to do her work.

I wanted to throw something together quickly just to show the differences between wide angle lenses and the "nifty fifty" when used on both a full frame sensor (Canon 5D mkii) and a crop sensor (Canon 7D).  All shots are OOC, and taken from about three feet away.  The 50mm lens is the Canon "Nifty Fifty" and the wide angle lens is the Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens. It's also important to note that the 50mm is a EF lens, and the Sigma is their equivalent to a EF-S Canon lens.  That's the reason behind the black circle on the 5D photos.

Covert and Conrad Family Session | West Friendship, Maryland Family Photographer

In the realm of clients, few things make this photographer happier than repeats. Sure, it's always great when one family enjoys my photos enough to recommend me to another family, but there are few joys more pure than knowing that a family enjoyed my work so much that they're willing to bring me back and have them capture more memories.  

This was the case with the Covert family!

I had the pleasure of capturing the first few days of their adorable baby girl, Makenna, and was delighted to find out that they were so happy with their photos, they wanted to book me for a session for Christmas cards, and they wanted to bring along Morgan's sister and family.

I love a session like this, because the families really play well off of each other and it makes for some great photos.  I can't wait to continue to see how baby Makenna continues to grow up and follow along with her family!  More photos down below...

Chris and Kristin | Mt. Airy, Maryland Engagement Photographer

Wine country makes an absolutely amazing​ backdrop for an engagement session, and this year's Autumn scenery changes only served to make it that much better.  I've had the pleasure of knowing Chris for almost 25 years now, and I'm fairly certain I've never seen him happier than he is when he's with his fiance, Kristin.  The two of them provided some amazing chemistry in front of the lens, and I feel really honored to have been given the chance to capture their engagement session.  I wish them a long and happy marriage, and can't wait to see them as they grow old together.

Baby Addyson | Pasadena, Maryland Baby Photographer

Fall means a few things: Football, changing leaves, cooler temperatures and pumpkins.  In just a few short months, baby Addyson​ has grown from a tiny baby that barely moves, to a smiling, laughing adorable little girl.  Her parents are very lucky to have such a fun and cute baby, and I had an absolute blast shooting this session for 6-month old Addy.  Not only did she smile for the camera and have a good time, she also cooperated when we decided to shove her in a pumpkin for the adorable photo at the top.

Jake and Caroline | Western Maryland Engagement Photographer

The scenic hills and valleys of western Maryland ​played the part of the beautiful background in what might be one of my most favorite engagement sessions I've ever had the privilege of creating.  Jake and Caroline were searching for the perfect scene for their session and, considering they're getting married at a vineyard, figured why not have their e-session in one as well!  For those of you that might know me personally, you may remember Jake as one of the members of my groomsmen and a friend of mine for the last 5 years.  Caroline, who is no doubt his better half, is probably the perfect woman to be marrying Jake.  These two make a great couple and leave no doubt to any onlookers that they're going to be happy together for a long, long time.  I wish them the best of luck and a long and prosperous marriage!  (More pictures at the end of this post)

Baby Jackson | Arbutus, MD Newborn Baby Photography

Cute doesn't begin to describe little Jackson, who I had the privilege of capturing earlier this month.  Despite a small hitch where we learned that babies do not like being placed into football helmets (or maybe just Ravens helmets?) the shoot was a lot of fun and it was a real joy being a part of this new family.  Jackson is going to be quite the handful for Mom and Dad and I wish them the best of luck!  Want to see some more?  Keep scrolling!
